I know if you are old enough you will remember exactly where you were when you heard the news that Princess Diana was dead. AUGUST 31, 1997.  I can hardly believe that it has been 20 years. I remember setting my alarm to watch the fairytale wedding of Princess Diana to Prince Charles like 750 million others and sadly setting that same alarm 16 years later to watch her funeral.

On my morning walk I usually pass by Kensington Palace needing no reminder how lucky I am to have this incredible view at my doorstep. Kensington Palace was the home of Princess Diana for 15 years and the gates have always been marked since then with flowers, photos and mementos. Today however is the 20th anniversary of her death.  Today was different.

Mourners from all over the world were paying their respects to Princess Diana who was tragically killed in a Paris car crash. Two decades may have passed since her death shocked the world but her appeal remains undiminished.

Her sons the Duke of Cambridge and Prince Harry had paid tribute to their mom the day before by visiting the floral tributes and pictures of the Princess left by adoring fans.

Since the age of 19 she was thrown into the public eye and hounded by the paparazzi. At the time of her death she was the most photographed woman in the world.

I listened to Andrew Morton (below) biographer of Diana: Her True Story speak on what it was like to interview Diana as he learned incredibly private matters about the Princess.

In honour of the 20th anniversary of Diana's tragic death Kensington Palace has planted The White Garden, for "England's Rose", a name that Elton John made famous for Diana at her funeral.
